Why Alpha Chi?

As part of Alpha Chi Omega, you will learn, love, and grow with your sisters. Read the following excerpts from sisters about their experiences with Alpha Chi Omega and why Alpha Chi Omega was the best fit for them.

My hostess for the MIT Overnight Program was from Alpha Chi and she brought me to the house for dinner. This was my first exposure to a sorority. At first, I was skeptical. But as I got to talk to the girls at the table during dinner, I heard about the amazing things they had done such as travel abroad, balance athletics and academics, take Chinese IV, be passionate about research and technology, and take art history courses at Harvard, etc. When I got accepted to MIT and came to CPW, my hostess again was from Alpha Chi! I met a different set of sisters and was amazed again by how diverse, accomplished, and caring each sister was. My perspective of MIT sororities is a positive image where the women are truly accomplished in a range of interests at the highest degree. Since Alpha Chi has 100+ members, what struck me the most of was the fact that everyone knew each other and everyone cared about each other. I was anticipating to be part of this network of amazing women before I did recruitment in the fall. I knew that I want to be surrounded by genuine and amazing people so that they can help me get through the challenges at MIT and I truly want to help them as well. I have no doubt that this group of 100+ women will enrich my life and make me smile everyday. This reassurance of finding a sisterhood, a really strong bond, really motivated me to do recruitment and kept me engaged during Pledge period. From my personal experience, I PROUDLY recognize Alpha Chi Omega as the best fit and family for me. - Sandra Chen '12

I wanted to be an Alpha Chi because I saw how genuine the bond and friendship between the sisters was and that they all respected each other. They were classy, they were driven, and they were warm. I also saw a lot of great role models in the sisterhood to whom I could look up and who could give me advice on anything. The things that drew me the most to Alpha Chi Omega though were the diversity within our chapter, the leadership qualities the sisters showed, and fun, positive attitudes from everyone. - Grace Yao '11

Even if you're far away from home, you can count on Alpha Chis to be there for you. I had such a great time last summer working in France because my sisters were there to experience it with me. Even though we all worked in different countries, sisters reached out to me and I to them to plan some incredible adventures. I can't think of a better way to have spent my summer- bonding with my sisters as we traveled all around Europe together! - Yuri Hanada '10

About a week after joining Alpha Chi Omega my freshman year, I told a few sisters that I had a big hockey game coming up. About five minutes later, I saw an email to the AXO listserv from a sister telling everyone about the game. I didn't expect too much, but right before the game started, I looked up into the stands and saw a cluster of girls with huge signs. They said AXO <3's Raffaela! Even though I had just joined and had been to one chapter meeting (and barely knew the girls holding the signs), I knew that I had found something truly special. -Raffaela Wakeman MIT'08
